Clarification: Layoffs take place when the University makes a decision to reduce or end an appointment prior to the ending date during the term of employment. Layoff is not an action which is taken for misconduct or poor performance. An appointment that ends as scheduled on a predetermined ending date is not a layoff. Layoff is not the elimination of temporary augmentations.
